“Just An Old Sweet Song”-Carmichael and Gorrell

“Georgia, Georgia

The whole day through

(The whole day through)

Just an old sweet song

Keeps Georgia on my mind

(Georgia on my mind)”

On this date in 1960, Ray Charles interpretation of Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell’s song, Georgia On My Mind hit #1 on the charts. This song was a favorite of my dad’s. On this day in 1919, my dad was born; had he survived, he would’ve been 94 years old. Dad died in 1991…as I’ve said in other posts, still miss him as does Mom, every day.  Here’s to you dad…when I hear music that you like, it just keeps YOU “on my mind.”  Click to see my dad: Dad New Guinea in 1944 at 25 years old
