“Tammy’s In Love!”-Jay Livingston & Ray Evans

When I was 4 years old, in 1957, I fell in love with the song, “Tammy” from the movie, Tammy and the Bachelor with a 25-year old Debbie Reynolds. To me, Debbie Reynolds voice was so sweet, clear and smooth and my 4-year old ears couldn’t get enough of it. On August 19th in 1957, “Tammy” hit #1 on the charts and it was also nominated for an Oscar in that same year. The song was written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans. This team is responsible for many wonderful songs, including, but not limited to: Que Sera Sera, Mona Lisa (Remember Nat King Cole’s version?), Buttons and Bows. Debbie Reynolds was Tammy only in the very first of the 4-movie series, Sandra Dee starred as Tammy in movies 2-4.
