“Live well. Sing out, sing loud, and sing often. And God bless the child that’s got a song.”-Nanci Griffith
I love Nanci Griffith. She’s great. My husband and I had been listening to Nanci Griffith for many years and were thrilled when she gave a concert very close to our home 7 years ago. She shared the stage with Judy Collins and Dar Willliams, beautiful show. I think I first fell in love with her “Love at the Five and Dime,” which Kathy Mattea had recorded in 1986 and Mattea’s cover was lovely. It’s a real story-song and I love those. Nanci Griffith had a modest hit with Judy Gold’s “From a Distance,” which was a huge hit for Bette Midler. My husband and I went onto buy Nanci Griffith albums. Griffith sings her songs as well as the songs of other songwriters. If you are not familiar with her work, listen to the YouTube links provided, I guarantee you will love her no matter what kind of music you are into.
