“All walking is discovery. On foot we take the time to see things whole.”-Hal Borland

For Simple Saturday, those of you who don’t have to work, take a walk. On the East Coast this morning, I hear the birds calling me outside. During the nice weather, I try to walk 2X a day through a park/beach near my home where I see the boats are starting to return to their moors; the ducks are dipping their heads in the water for some seaweed; mallard ducks have joined them again for the spring/summer; the geese are happily honking and people have returned to jog and walk. While looking up the above quote, I discovered Hal Borland, so that was a learning experience. Mr. Borland was a nature writer and wrote for the NY Times for over 30 years! He also wrote fiction and non-fiction books. Here’s hoping you get outside today!  Why not have a song in your head as you’re walking or sing out loud?   Yesterday, I did that with songs associated with Pete Seeger, it was so much fun and think of the delicious clean park oxygen reaching your brain as you sing!!!!!

  1. Couldn’t agree more with the benefits of walking….I might just add that it pulls us into the moment and away from our sometimes difficult thoughts 🙂 this is a lovely post, and well done you walking x2 a day
