“The faith and confidence of others in me have been like shining, guiding stars.”-Marian Anderson

On February 17th, 1902, Marian Anderson was born. As a teacher, I always presented lessons and storybooks on Ms Anderson since she was such an inspiring individual who exemplified excellence over adversity. The above quote is one of the very important jobs a teacher has in inspiring his/her students…to demonstrate “faith and confidence” in their abilities and help steer them in the right direction toward developing and honing their  abilities. If any of you are teachers out there, give your students the opportunity to learn about Marian Anderson. If you are a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or grandparent, gift your loved one with a book on Marian Anderson. Some are displayed below:
