The above quote is from the great pianist/composer, Eubie Blake, who was born on Feb. 7th, 1883 and died Feb. 12th, 1983, at the grand old age of a century! He was known for his exquisite piano playing and compositions of American Music styles such as Ragtime and Jazz. After the huge recognition of Scott Joplin’s (another Jazz/Ragtime Musician/Composer) “The Entertainer” in Paul Newman’s film, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, there was a renaissance of Ragtime and Eubie Blake received adulation in the 70s….way overdue adulation.
